FAQ
Questions, answered plainly.
- Is ProSay a law firm?
- No. ProSay is a self-help document preparation service. It is not a law firm, it does not give legal advice, and using it does not create an attorney-client relationship. If you need legal advice, talk to a licensed Connecticut attorney.
- What do I actually get?
- Completed court documents built from your answers, formatted the way Connecticut courts expect, ready to sign and file. Each document comes with guidance on how and where to file it, including a link to the Judicial Branch's E-Services system.
- Who wrote the forms?
- Every template starts from the official Connecticut Judicial Branch form or the format the Practice Book requires. A licensed Connecticut attorney reviews and approves each template before it appears on the platform. No attorney reviews your answers or your documents.
- Can ProSay tell me what to file or what to argue?
- No. ProSay prepares documents based on the facts you provide. It cannot evaluate your case, recommend a strategy, or predict what a court will do. Those are questions for an attorney.
- What courts does ProSay cover?
- Connecticut state courts only, in two areas: housing court (eviction defense and related matters) and family court (divorce, custody and visitation, and family motions). ProSay does not cover criminal cases, federal court, appeals, or wills and estates.
- How much does it cost?
- You answer the questions and preview your documents at no charge. You pay only when you download a filing: $59 per filing, or a complete case for every filing in a case. There are no subscriptions and no hourly fees. See the prices.
- Is my information private?
- Yes. Your answers are used to prepare your documents and are protected as described in our Privacy Policy. ProSay does not sell personal data.
- What if I make a mistake in my answers?
- You review everything before any document is finalized, and you can go back and change answers. Read every document carefully before you sign and file it. You are responsible for the accuracy of what you file.
- Do I still have to file the documents myself?
- Yes. ProSay prepares documents; it does not file them for you. Your instruction sheet explains how to file at the clerk's office or online through the Judicial Branch's E-Services system.
- Where can I get free legal help?
- Connecticut's Court Service Centers help self-represented parties with procedure. Legal aid organizations serve people who qualify, and tenants facing eviction may qualify for the state's Right to Counsel program. The clerk's office can answer procedure questions but cannot give legal advice.
